Wounds that do not heal, changes in weight and intestinal transit … know some of the signals sent by the body to warn you that tumor is developing.
Cancer is a disease that can manifest virtually any symptom. The warning signs will depend on the body they affect and its extension and size, if it is large or small tumor, or if we have a metastasis, in which case the symptoms can appear anywhere on the body. But we can identify twelve signs of alarm:
1. Unexplained weight loss
Weight loss is a common symptom to most cancers. Alarm signal is considered the loss of 5 kilos and it occurs unexpected. It is a common symptom of gastrointestinal tumors (pancreas, stomach, esophagus or lung) or advanced tumors.
The fever may be an early sign of processes such as leukemia or lymphoma.
As the cancer progresses, fatigue can be a symptom of disease, although in some cases, such as leukemia, can be one of the first signs or symptoms secondary to anemia due to colon blood loss and stomach tumors.
Testicular pain can be an early symptom of bone cancer or brain tumors, unremitting headache is an alarm signal. Often the pain is associated with tumor metastasis or direct invasion of richly innervated structures.
5. Skin changes
In addition to the changes in the shape, size and appearance of moles, other types of neoplasia can cause other skin changes such as jaundice, redness, itching, hair growth.
6. Constipation or diarrhea
The change in bowel regularity for a long time can be a symptom associated with colon cancer.
7. Wounds that do not heal
Sometimes, skin cancer can save resemblance to nonhealing ulcers, as occurs in oral cancer and should alert smokers. In the genital area should also alert both men and women.
8. White spots in the mouth
These small white spots may be frequent precancerous lesions in people who smoke pipes and, if untreated can develop into oral cancer.
9. Unusual bleeding
Coughing with blood is associated with lung cancer; blood in feces – colorectal cancer; in vagina to cervical or endometrial cancer; in the urine, a bladder or kidney cancer; and the nipple to breast cancer.
Many cancers can be palpated through the skin, especially breast cancer, testis, lymph node and soft tissue. Any new lump hard we should be suspicious.
11. Difficulty in swallowing
It can be a symptom of esophageal cancer, cancer of stomach or pharynx.
12. Persistent cough
It may be a sign of lung cancer or upper aerodigestive tract. The voice change may be a sign of larynx (voice box) or lung cancer.
